Point Pelee National Park

Who would of thought that the 1st November would bring such a gorgeous day of sunshine. We decided to get up early and head on our way to Point Pelee today, which is just over an hours drive from Windsor, Ontario.

I have to say it was definitely worth it, what a beautiful place, lots to see and it was day well spent. We headed straight for the visitor centre and headed off on an hour long hike down the Nature Woodlands Trail. Didn't see much wildlife, as Isaac made too much of a racket, so if there were any about they were well and truly gone by the time we got near them. We did see the odd squirrel, woodpecker and other birds, as well as some Vultures flying in the sky above us being pestered by some crows.

Once we got back to the Visitor centre after our hour long walk, we sat down and had an icecream, the weather was glorious by this stage (must of been close to 18 degrees) and it was hard for it to sink in that we were actually less than 2 months away from Christmas.

We then headed down the Shuster Trail which took us to the beach on Lake Erie and omg what a sight. It really is an amazing sight and you really would think you were looking out at sea, there was no seeing the other side no matter how hard you looked and there were even various gulls and waterbirds flying about. We were hoping to spot some eagles, but I think it was the wrong time of day for those.

After we got back from the beach we then jumped in the car and headed 2.5km to the tip of Point Pelee. Again the view was astounding, and it is right in the flight path of many birds who migrate yearly. We was absolutely shattered by this stage and had been in the park for a good 5 hours, so headed home. Isaac pretty much conked out as soon as the car hit the straight road home. I almost nodded off, but thankfully didnt, as I was lucky enough to spot a lonesome deer emerging from a wooded area at the side of the road.

We will definately do it again next year, I would like to go to the park when there is snow, but not sure what the roads would be like to get there. We will see soon I suppose.

I will finish for today with some pictures from our trip.
